Jacksonville Jaguars Win Home-Opener!!!

Are the Jacksonville Jaguars tanking? This question has been floating around ever since the team has parted ways with some major assets. But after a huge home-opening win versus the Colts, I think we can chalk it up to the General Manager knowing what he is doing.

The Jaguars ran out on to the field in front of a smaller than usual crowd this afternoon with around 16,000 people in attendance. Not because the city doesn’t believe in them or love this team anymore but instead because of Coronavirus. Management has decided to only allow 25% Capacity into the stadium including media as we sadly found out last week.

How The Game Played Out

The Jaguars came out with a slow start against the Indianapolis Colts not scoring until the second quarter but only found themselves down by 3 at Halftime 17-14. The Jaguars held the Colts to only 3 points throughout the entire second half of the game and recorded 13 points of their own to close out the game ahead 27-20. Minshew Magic was on full display from the 2nd quarter on as he put up near perfect numbers on the day throwing 19-20 for 173 yards and 3 Touchdowns and 0 Interceptions. Many people have been curious why Jacksonville has put all their faith into Gardner Minshew and I think he showed everyone why he’s this teams Starter. Myles Jack also had a stellar game recording 11 Total Tackles 8 solo and 1 Sack. Jack was bothering Philip Rivers all afternoon getting a total of 3 QB hits. This type of pressure on Rivers forced the Future Hall of Famer to throw 2 Interceptions with only 1 Touchdown.

Looking Into Next Week

Next week the Jacksonville Jagaurs face the Tennessee Titans in Tennessee. The projection on ESPN says that the Titans are 72.2% likely to win this game. I think home field advantage is usually a big thing but with the lack of screaming fans in the stadiums I presume that it will be less of a factor this season. If Minshew and company can go out there and play similarly to how they played tonight they will have a chance to win. Tennessee is an incredibly talented team and there is a reason why they are so heavily favored next week. Local legend Derrick Henry resigned with them and Ryan Tannehill is playing very good as well. We will be watching them play the Broncos tomorrow night to see how their team is looking this season.
